I'm not sure that I've properly introduced Spicy Chicken. Isn't she something?
You know that game Corpse Imaginaire? Where one person draws a creature's head on a piece of paper then folds the paper so just the neck lines are showing. That person hands the paper over to the next person who completes the torso and folds the paper so just the legs lines are showing and so forth. Once the drawing is finished the paper is unfolded and, one hopes, hilarity ensues.
Well, some years ago my friends Lily, Jenny, Sasha and I played 3-D Corpse Imaginaire. We agreed at the outset that our creation would be a bird, then we each picked out of a hat "head" "body" legs" "nest." We figured the scale of the creature according to cocktail napkins (of course this happened over cocktails). The head would be the size of one cocktail napkin, the body two over two napkins and the legs and nest would follow suit.
A few weeks later we met up again with our pieces in tow--the assembly went quite smoothly and voila--hilarity ensued and there was no doubt this was one Spicy Chicken. She looked like a madame in a turn of the century bordello. We also made a bug, a monkey, and a sea creature this way before calling the project a day. I've become the keeper of Spicy though worry that she's looking a little haggard these days. Her feathers aren't as fluffy as they once were. Alas, I guess that's the way it goes.

Baby Brain
You'll have to excuse me, but I have a raging case of nesting/baby brain going on right now. What I'm most excited about re: this parenting thing is reliving some of my favorite activities of childhood. Making my own playdough would be one such activity. Here's how as seen on ohdeedoh.com.

Providence
Oh Dear, things have gotten away from me and here it is October--chilly already in RI--and I haven't posted for way too long. We're expecting a baby very soon and just finished a book project (details later), anyway I got swept up.
I wanted to share though this great article on Providence from Design Sponge. I love Providence more each time I visit--great restaurants and shops.
